KMAH Radio 2nd birthday party @ HiFi, 7 Apr
Leeds-based radio station KMAH is two years old! To celebrate, they’re throwing another of their cosy get-downs at the HiFi Club with an emphasis on disco thanks to Outlaws Yacht Club boss Joe Gill, who'll be playing ahead of a live show from bouncy electronic lot Galaxians. After that, there's an educational (for both the mind and the hips) 'History of Disco' set from KMAH's own Bill Brewster, and closing things down will be Love Muscle man Michael Upson b2b Lucy Locket. Read our interview with the KMAH lads from back in the day when they were just starting out, and then raise a toast to them on Friday night! From 11pm, £5
Sub:terranea presents John Heckle @ Wire, 8 Apr
Ain't no tackle like Heckle tackle: as a DJ and live act, this guy brings a ranging knowledge and passion to the game. Sub:terranea are bringing him to Leeds for the first time in around five years, and he'll have his full hardware setup in tow (all the way from Dublin!) Expect high-energy, deep-diving delights. From 11pm, £8
Release Yourself viii @ Wharf Chambers, 8 Apr
An intimate, inclusive dance party held three times a year at co-operative arts venue Wharf Chambers, Release Yourself combines a live act with some fine disc selectors: past artists have included Galaxians, Shift Work and Unmade Bed, while tonight welcomes a live set from Game_Program. In-house record spinners Matt Woodward (Galaxians / Azores / Stargaze Records), Pat McCusker and Henry Hobson are joined by invited DJs. From 10pm, £5
