Don't-miss club nights this week

Soul Jazz Records Soundsystem
Smokestack, 14 Oct, 11pm, free

Respected label Soul Jazz take over the decks at Smokestack for an evening of dusty, dusky and deep-digging sounds – as you'd expect from an outlet that's traversed everything from reggae, soul, ska and dub to jazz, Brazilian and Latin over the years (and that's just for starters).

Butter Side Up 6th birthday
Wire, 14 Oct, 11pm, £11

Leeds crew Butter Side Up celebrate their sixth year in the game this month, and to help raise a glass they've brought in Swiss DJ Sonja Moonear. Fresh off the back of a string of dates in Ibiza, no doubt her intense yet playful upper-register techno will be chiselled to precision.

Fiesta Bombarda Leeds Carnival with Hypnotic Brass Ensemble
The HiFi Club, 15 Oct, 10.30pm, £15

There couldn't be a better choice of carnival band than phenomenal all-brothers group Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, who'll be blowing the roof off HiFi Club this Saturday for Fiesta Bombarda's return to one of their favourite cities. They're joined by a roster of DJs and a one-last-hurrah (bye bye summer) atmosphere.

Back to Basics 25th anniversary
Church, Leeds, 26 Nov, 11pm, £20

They've named 26 Nov as their official birthday date and are bringing in US DJ Erick Morillo midway through his Subliminal tour.
