Blitzkreig Bop - The Launch Party

The Blitzkreig Bop is furtively becoming something of an institution in Glasgow

With a clever mix of the very best local and international bands and some very familiar looking DJs, the Blitzkreig Bop is furtively becoming something of an institution in Glasgow. To celebrate the launch of a new regular club slot at the Arches, the Bop has pulled together some of the best electronic bands on any scene at the moment for a special one-off gig on May 7th. Berlin-based anarchtronic electro-punks Warren Suicide top the bill at the Bop. Their debut album 'The Hello' was released in April, but the trio had already been accredited by the UK media in 2004 after notching up a string of glowing references from the likes of Black Strobe, Annie Nightingale, Eddy Temple Morris and Mark Moore.

Local acts Swimmer One and Luxury Car follow along with The Microsluts. You'll no doubt have heard Luxury Car's menacing, deadpan vocal delivery and dark rhythmic beats somewhere before: after a much-in-demand Radio 1 session last year they have been all over the airwaves, picking up play on the likes of XFM and Beat 106. Swimmer One one the other hand make moving, glorious old-school synthpop using a sampler that once belonged to Shakin' Stevens, while The Microsluts do Kraftwerk in pencil skirts, offering up Dirty Mind-era Prince mixed with the sass of Girls Aloud.

Come on down to the Arches on May 7th, doors 7pm-12am, advance tickets £8, available from the Arches box office on 0870 240 7528, or visit www.thearches.co.uk.
