Don't-miss parties this week:

Fri 24 Jun

Treehouse presents Happa
The Old Red Bus Station, 10pm, £5

Leeds lad Samir Alikhanizadeh, celebrating his 19th birthday on Friday with a party thrown by local crew Treehouse, has been making some of the gnarliest techno to come out of the North in recent memory. His new EP on his own PT/5 Records skates cracked surfaces of ear-splitting noise with looping, haunted melodies; like taking a bath with a Brillo pad. Fans of Arca, Andy Stott and Livity Sound take note.

Tue 28 Jun

GUTS
The HiFi Club, 7.30pm, £sold out

French crate-digger Fabrice Franck Henri aka GUTS brings his smelting pot of soul, hip-hop and smooth jams to the best venue in Leeds for precisely those feels: the HiFi, of course. This is a full live band show, with DJs taking things through 'til late; not a bad week for promoters Bam!Bam!Bam!, who also have DJ Premier at Liverpool Arts Club on the 25th, if you fancy a little road trip / get a move on and grab one of the last remaining tickets. (More on the Premier show here.)

Fri 1 Jul

The Big Disco
with Craig Charles, Alex Metric, Greg Wilson, Brett Domino, Justin Robertson & more
Duke Studios, 3pm, £11/£16.50

Who would pass up their opportunity to dance in the sparkle of the world's largest disco ball? Not you, that's for sure: book ahead for The Big Disco, which will see big-top DJs Craig Charles and Greg Wilson play next to a glittering orb the height of two T-Rex dinosaurs. Skinny favourite Justin Robertson will also be on the decks, and he'll lead the afterparty too (at the same venue, from 11pm).

Sun 28 Aug

The Garden Party part 3
with Dusky, Alan Fitzpatrick, Denis Sulta & more
The Faversham, 12pm (afterparty at Wire, 10pm), £20/£25

Leeds' well-loved Garden Party festival returns to its roots at The Faversham for a third and final blowout of the summer. Dark house duo Dusky headline, with Drumcode records' Alan Fitzpatrick – making his first appearance in Leeds since 2010 – and Glasgow's Denis Sulta doing a robust job of propping up. As the Fav winds down at 11pm, the party continues at Wire (10pm-4am).

Festival watch

There's a ticket warning out for Farr Festival (14-16 Jul), which brings the likes of Francis Inferno Orchestra, Young Marco, Kon and Moomin to deepest Hertfordshire (worth the trek, honest). There are fewer than 100 weekend and 50 Saturday day tickets remaining according to the fest's Facebook: get yer wheels on.

Watch those ticket levels for bluedot festival (22-24 Jul), as well: Ben UFO, George Fitzgerald and Beyond the Wizard's Sleeve all playing under the shadow of Jodrell Bank space observatory?! And that barely scratches the surface...
