BBC Scotland launches Poet In Residence search

The Scottish Poetry Library and BBC Scotland have teamed up to search for an upcoming poet to take on a three month paid residency at the BBC.

The residency – open to all poets living and working in Scotland – will see the winner produce work for the BBC’s online arts platforms and for programmes on BBC Radio Scotland, as well as contributing to BBC Scotland’s L.A.B. series of digital media workshops in schools across the country.

The first-of-its-kind residency hopes to find “a fresh perspective on cultural and topical issues in contemporary Scotland as well as celebrating poetry as an art form,” with the winner possessing "significant potential, evidence of professional achievement, a rigorous approach to creating artistic work as well as a strong commitment to the art."

The BBC Scotland Poet in Residence is set to be announced in October to coincide with National Poetry Day. The deadline for applications is Fri 12 June at 5pm – full application details can be found on the BBC Radio Scotland website.
