Khaki Shorts - Various

Khaki Shorts' is worth its salt as far as independent comics go

Book Review by Dave West | 16 May 2006
We've all got a kid inside who loves to escape into the pages of a comic book. This is why I'd recommend taking a look at the bi-monthly, independent comic 'Khaki Shorts'. The little ditties found within the pages of Glasgow's "comic of humour and intrigue" offer clever witticisms, parodies, and meanderings about society and such, all in a thick Glaswegian accent. From unauthorized comical accounts of how a certain band rose to fame, to a sci-fi obsessed loser who confuses the real world with his star conquests, to a kid who just can't get enough sausage rolls, 'Khaki Shorts' is worth its salt as far as independent comics go. Found in several local book and comic stores, the one quid booklet is likely to make you smile and chuckle. Not all the comics found within its pages are a total riot, but perhaps they will inspire you to submit you own strip. [Dave West]
