Lily Allen - The Fear

Lily Allen is back, and it seems Katy Perry’s recent “fat” comment isn’t Allen’s only fame-related grievance. “I don’t know how I’m meant to feel anymore” she sings of her struggles with the limelight, though not all her barbs sting. “I want fuckloads of diamonds/I heard people die while they’re trying to find them” in particular is a clumsy attempt to inject politics amongst the celeb-woe naval-gazing. A lot less chipper than the summery-pop that landed her in this ‘mess’, Allen’s rebuttal to the star-fuckers and red-tops is a potent reminder that she’s more than just gobby gossip-fodder.
