The Fighting Cocks - Music for Lapdancers

Remember the end of Blazing Saddles? When the big cowboy punch-up finale spills over into the studio next door where a load of tap-dancing top hatters join in on the fight? Well this sounds like the soundtrack; except also with rockabilly badasses, cockney rude boys, a Romanian wedding and day-glo ravers in on the punch-up - all curated by a particularly manic and sleazy special edition of Eurotrash. Which officially makes this the best rootin'-tootin', pink-cowboy-hat-on-scantily-clad-buxom-manga-gal-ridin', jukebox trashin', rock'n'rollin' cheeseball smash of the month. Music for Lapdancers has a wonderfully admirable ability to stumble upon a hit riff that would storm the pop charts, but eventually tackle it with such spastic sachrination as to make it too demented for popular consumption. And ultimately, any band that makes the line "would you still love me if I spent the rent money on crack?" catchy and soulful gets this vote. [Ali Maloney]
