An Exhibition in Waiting at Glasgow’s Tramway is what will comprise Rachel Mimiec’s newest exhibition, Looking Out, Looking In. This temporary collection is the product of a two-year residency in the Tramway’s very own Hidden Gardens, during which Mimiec essentially shut herself away in a shed to experience, observe and be observed.

Once completed, the soul of the shed will be exposed for the public to peer through the windows, while the gallery space will conversely be visible to the outside world through its own large windows. The content of the natural and man-made materials present a thought in progress. Mimiec’s publication, the shed, planks of wood, wires and metal sheeting (some of which have been engineered into delicate leaves), lit majestically in the tiny Tramway 5 all present a taste of what is yet to come. These neatly organised, promising raw materials are currently dreaming of a transformation which will be revealed to the public in May. The scheduled artist’s talk has also been pushed back. For now, there are decorative exhibition posters of garden foliage, located at the centre of the space, for visitors to take away. [Nina Goldberger]
