Lions and Tigers and Lions remains scattered and never leaves enough of a feel of what Tiny Dancers actually sound like.
Growing up in isolated Yorkshire villages, Tiny Dancers draw as much influence from American country as the indie sounds of Manchester. And it shows through Lions and Tigers and Lions. Opener, '20 to 9' recalls Joy Division's self-isolationism but is followed by the gleaming pop of 'Hemsworth Hallway' and the country tinged 'Russian Snow' and 'Sun Goes Down'. With influences spread further by the dance-rock of 'Going Away',the EP remains scattered and never leaves enough of a feel of what Tiny Dancers actually sound like. Still, it's refreshing to hear a band that tries to make every song unique. [Neil Ferguson]
