Call-out for entries: Paint Like You Mean It at Interview Room 11

Article by News Team | 14 Feb 2014

Edinburgh art gallery Interview Room 11 is on the hunt for dynamic new artists for their first international exhibition and prize. The call-out is open to any artist aged 18 and over, from any country. The brief, which can be read in full at IR11's Tumblr, reads: "Artists are invited to submit one work that they deem to be 'painting.'  This could be two or three dimensional work but must relate to the practice or medium of painting in some way.  Work selected will demonstrate the versatility of paint, and show how contemporary artists are redefining the nature of the medium whilst still being rooted in the traditions and histories of painting.  Paintings must not exceed 180 cm on their longest side."

Artists have until 15 March to submit a jpeg of their artwork to interviewroom11@dss.theforest.org.uk. They are asked to include the title and dimensions of the work, and to include a £5 submission fee, payable by PayPal to the same address. Entries will be judged by the IR11 gallery committee and a panel of external judges who will be announced soon, with a shortlist of winning entries to feature in a gallery show at IR11 on Castle Terrace in Edinburgh, between 28 May and 14 June. The winner will be given a solo show at IR11 in 2015.
